Turner Awarded $72 Million Contract to Provide Pre-Construction and Construction Management Services for St. Mary’s Hospital for Children

Project Will Add Amenities and Enhance Patient Care

NEW YORK — Turner Construction Company, the nation’s largest builder of healthcare facilities, has been awarded a $72 million contract to provide pre-construction and construction management services for the modernization of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside, N.Y. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2013.

The scope of work includes a five-story, 90,000 sq. ft. expansion of the current 90,000 sq. ft. hospital to enhance patient care areas and add indoor and outdoor rehabilitation and recreation space, as well as the modernization of the existing 1950’s era building. The construction will be phased to allow for full occupancy of the 97-bed children’s hospital that provides a full range of post-acute services for infants through teenage patients.

“Turner is proud to manage construction of this important facility for St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children to enable the hospital to provide an enhanced environment of healing and rehabilitation for benefit of the patients and their families,” said Charles Murphy, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Turner’s New York operations.
