OMAHA, Neb — Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Mo., designed by international architecture, planning, engineering, interior design and program management firm LEO A DALY, will host a dedication ceremony on Friday, September 3 at 10:00 AM. The facility will officially open Monday, Sept. 13.
The 51,500 square-foot replacement hospital provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency care, and features 16 private rooms, a 24-hour emergency department, laboratory services, radiology services, and physical, occupational and speech therapy services. The hospital is located on a 37-acre site, allowing for possible expansion of the patient unit and future services.
The new facility’s design provides comfort and safety for patients, improved wayfinding for visitors and patients along with effective utilization of staff. Outpatient services, some of which were previously housed at other facilities, are now located in the new hospital, making access to community healthcare very easy for patients.
“One of the key aspects of the new design is a single nurse station that can efficiently run the emergency department and the inpatient unit with all necessary services nearby so the patient load can be promptly managed by the nursing staff, even overnight,” says Jeff Monzu, AIA, LEO A DALY Omaha senior associate, project manager.
Community Hospital-Fairfax is a private, not-for-profit, critical access hospital. The hospital is the primary healthcare provider for Atchison and Holt counties, and part of Nodaway County in Missouri. Community Hospital-Fairfax operates Holt County Outpatient Services, offering physical, occupational and speech therapies and diabetes education.
