New Portsmouth Regional Hospital Main Entrance and Lobby to Open

Portsmouth, NH, — Portsmouth Regional Hospital has reached a significant milestone with the scheduled opening of the beautiful new hospital main entrance and lobby.  The lobby, with its double atrium, will consolidate entry in to the medical facility.  The theme of the lobby is the rich maritime history of the Seacoast area.

The new main entrance and lobby are part of a $70 million expansion to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.  The scope of the project includes approximately 67,600 square feet of new construction and more than 88,000 square feet of renovations to the existing facility.


Other major accomplishments of the expansion include:

* Privatization and upgrades to existing patient rooms
* A beautifully upgraded Maternity Unit
* Upgrades to all patient care areas; floor coverings, furniture, casework, wall coverings, etc.
* Surgery/Endoscopy expansion
* Cardiovascular Services expansion
* Support Services Expansion

Portsmouth Regional Hospital with its parent company, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) has contracted with JSA, Inc., a national architectural firm with offices in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for this project.  Other local and regional companies hired include: Granite State Plumbing and Heating, Interstate Electric, Hiltz Construction and more.  Salmon Falls nursery has been responsible for many of the external rock walls and plantings.
