Baptist Hospital Breaks Ground on $24 million Campus Project

PENSACOLA, Fla. –Baptist Hospital, the flagship facility for Baptist Health Care, held a groundbreaking ceremony on July 7 for its $24 million construction project that will enhance facilities, services, equipment and landscape of the main campus.

For almost 60 years, Baptist Health Care has cared for the patients and families of Pensacola and surrounding Gulf Coast region. We will be integrating modern design and amenities while honoring our long-standing heritage of being the community’s hospital.

Among the updates is a new campus entrance for patients, families and visitors arriving to Baptist Hospital. Upon entering, an expansive two story addition will welcome everyone arriving at Baptist Hospital. This central area will provide easy access to family areas and the Baptist Bistro. On the second level, the surgical waiting area is near surgery and offers a bright and open area for families to relax in comfortable surroundings. The operating rooms will expand to support Baptist Hospital’s growing services; oncology, heart and vascular, orthopaedics, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and neurology as well as a wide range of general surgical services.

The modern design will extend throughout hallway corridors and to the 24-hour emergency department. Public restrooms will be updated as well as the campus grounds including new landscape, green space and parking lots.

Project features:

* Impressive Main Entrance on Moreno Street
* Two-Story Main Lobby
* New Family Waiting Rooms
* Baptist Hospital Pharmacy
* Operating Room Expansion including four New Digital Operating Rooms
* Progressive Care Unit
* Outpatient Surgery
* Public and Patient Bathroom Renovations
* Baptist Bistro, indoor and outdoor dining areas
* Parking, landscape and green space

“Baptist Hospital’s construction project embodies our commitment to consistently improve health care within our community,” stated Mark Faulkner, President, Baptist Hospital. “We are proud to make this investment for our campus and the community. Patients are at the center of all of that we do and the new facility design enhances easy access and comfort.”

Baptist Health Care’s Gulf Breeze Hospital is also undergoing a $5 million construction project that began in April 2010.
