ASHE Announces Excellence in Facility Management Award

Chicago, Ill — The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association (AHA) announced the launch of the Excellence in Facilities Management Award on October 1.  This award, sponsored by Trane, honors an individual or team that demonstrates outstanding innovation and creativity to improve the health care physical environment. The award will highlight best-practices in order to educate and inspire other facility management professionals, as well as recognize innovative efforts that develop and promote a health care systems-wide approach. Additionally, the Excellence in Facilities Management Award will spotlight the importance of the Facility Manager’s contribution to improving patient care.

“By creating this award we, as a national organization, are raising the awareness of our profession and in turn our expertise, value, and contribution to health care. Creativity and innovation are the foundation of our profession. It is essential that we recognize and share the outstanding accomplishments in this arena” said Troy Martin, SASHE, 2009 ASHE President.
“I am excited to be a part of this venture as we continue to expand our body of knowledge and discover ways we can learn and support one another to meet the challenges we face on a daily basis” he added.

The inaugural recipient of the Excellence in Facilities Management Award will be announced during Healthcare Facilities and Engineering Week, October 25-31, 2009.  For information on the Award contact Charmaine Osborne by e-mail at cosborne@aha.org or telephone  at 312-422-3822.
