As part of a joint venture team known as BARA, Balfour Beatty Construction was selected to manage construction of the Parkland Replacement Hospital for the Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, Texas. The 1.9 million-square-foot facility will replace the existing 55-year old hospital, and, when complete, will be the largest hospital building in Dallas. The $1.2 billion program will include a new, 862-bed Acute Care hospital, separate clinic building, office building, parking structures, and other support facilities. Two architectural firms, HDR Architecture, based in Omaha, Nebraska, and Corgan Associates of Dallas will design the project, which will be built to Silver LEED specifications. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2010 and complete in 2014.
