URS Awarded Design-Build Contract for Medical Facilities by U.S. Army

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- URS Corporation announced that the company has been awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, multiple-award contract from the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center in Huntsville, Ala. to provide design-build services for the Medical Repair and Renewal Program in the continental United States and at overseas locations.

New Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Moves into Former Bookstore

KS MeyerlandHOUSTON, Texas — A two-story retail space which formerly housed a Borders bookstore has been transformed into a neighborhood clinic for Kelsey-Seybold in Houston, Texas. The opening of the 72,000-square-foot Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Meyerland Plaza, designed by PageSoutherlandPage, was officially celebrated on Thursday, April 25.

Located in the Meyerland Plaza shopping center, the renovation of the former bookstore provides Kelsey-Seybold with a storefront image and provides patients with easy access to physicians in nine medical specialties, along with an in-house pharmacy and services such as labs and X-rays. The clinic has been designed to accommodate ultrasound, digital mammography and DEXA (for measuring bone mineral density), if needed.

$4.6M Expansion of Resthaven Care Community Emphasizes Wellness, Spirituality

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Resthaven Care Community in Holland, Mich., recently opened a $4.6-million expansion that includes a 16-suite rehab cottage, chapel/life center and wellness center.

C.C. Hodgson Architectural Group worked closely with the Resthaven team to design a facility that emphasizes wellness and spirituality. The $4.6-million expansion involved two consecutive phases; first the rehab gym and chapel/life center, followed by the new rehab cottages. CCH also designed Resthaven’s Good Shepherd Home, a memory care addition reflecting a household design.

Construction Begins on Texas Center for Proton Therapy with Dedication to Cancer Survivors

IRVING, Texas -- New hope for cancer patients is building in North Texas as construction begins on the $105-million Texas Center for Proton Therapy, the first proton therapy center in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The center, spearheaded by Texas Oncology, The US Oncology Network and McKesson Specialty Health, will have capacity to treat more than 100 patients per day when it opens in 2016.

Matthei & Colin Associates Announces Design Commission for Radiation Oncology Center

CHICAGO, Ill. -- A new and updated Radiation Oncology Center is under design at Advocate Condell Medical Center with Matthei & Colin Associates as the healthcare design firm. They are reconfiguring the center to add 2,500 square feet of new space and will renovate about 4,200 square feet of existing space in the facility located on the main campus in Libertyville, Ill.
