GS&P Selected to Design Rehab Hospital for HealthSouth and St. John Health System

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Gresham, Smith and Partners has been selected to design a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The facility will be jointly built and operated by HealthSouth Corporation and St. John Health System. Construction on the 49,0000-square-foot, 40-bed hospital is set to begin in third quarter 2015.

This new hospital, expected to be completed in fourth quarter 2016, will provide comprehensive inpatient physical rehabilitation to patients who have experienced stroke, trauma, brain injury, orthopedic surgeries or other major illnesses or injuries. Upon completion of construction, the inpatient rehabilitation services at The Bernsen Rehabilitation Center will be relocated to the new hospital, which will be located at the corner of West Albany Street and North Elm Place in Broken Arrow.

GS&P is also designing a 60-bed, 60,000-square-foot rehabilitation hospital in Westerville, Ohio for Health South and Mount Carmel Health System. The firm has worked on hundreds of projects for HealthSouth Corporation over the past 25 years, including recently completed HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts, the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Cypress, Texas and the HealthSouth Chattanooga Rehabilitation Hospital in Tennessee.
