Construction Begins on New Medical Center in Austin

Adolfson & Peterson has started construction on the new Forest Park Medical Center in Austin, Texas, a $90-million, 146,000-square-foot surgical specialty care hospital located near state highway 45 and La Frontera Boulevard in Williamson County. Page Southerland Page, Inc. is serving as architect on the project.

This project, developed by Neal Richards Group, is owned by approximately 100 Austin and Round Rock-area physicians and includes 44 patient rooms, 10 operating rooms, as well as an 80,000-square-foot medical office building and 181,000-square-foot garage.  Forest Park Medical Center Austin will also include comprehensive imaging, a pharmacy, laboratory services and a blood bank.

Over the next month, the site will undergo a drastic transformation from a barren field to a lively construction site as the new medical center begins to take form.  This week, crews from Adolfson & Peterson Construction are completing site clearing and soil conditioning of the building pads, readying the site for foundations to be set for the hospital, medical office building, and parking garage.

“This is an especially exciting time for the Forest Park Medical Center system as we continue to expand our presence throughout Texas and bring the unsurpassed quality care we are known for to the Austin community,” said John O’Neill, CEO, Forest Park Medical Center Austin. “We look forward to prospering as a state-of-the-art facility offering unique, unmatched care for our patients and an efficient way of practicing for physicians.”

This is the fifth medical facility that A&P has built for Forest Park Medical Center.  “A&P is proud to continue the long-standing partnership with Neal Richards Group and Forest Park Medical Center,” said Bob Lemke, project executive with A&P.  “Our commitment is to deliver a world-class medical facility that will serve Austin and surrounding communities.”

According to the current schedule, the project will reach peak construction in the summer of 2014 with 250-300 construction personnel onsite.

The project is scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2015.
